Origin of the Ragdoll
The Rag doll Cat is a semi-long haired cat with a soft-silky bunny like coat and striking blue eyes. Rag dolls are a large boned and muscular cat with males ranging between 15-20 lbs and Females range between 10-15lbs.
They have a lovely dog-like personality. The name Ragdoll comes from their tendency to flop when picked up like a cloth rag doll. They are fondly referred to as puppy cats. They like to follow their owners around and be a part of daily activities. They are extremely docile and should be kept as indoor only cats. They are very intelligent and can be thought to walk on a harness and do tricks as well as play fetch.
The Ragdoll cat does not have an under coat so are not usually prone to matting but should be groomed once a week to keep their coat looking it's best. The Rag doll breed was first developed by Anne Baker of Riverside, CA in the 1960's.
